2009 IMMAE - World of MMA Coverage

Lots of fans in attendance for this years IMMAE. Tapout bus is here along with King of the Cage limousine and Cage. Long Beach Fight Night also had a booth along with a couple of their fighters, such as Manny “Bam Bam” Lara, walking around passing out flyers for their upcoming October 18th event.
Fighters on hand included BJ Penn, Bas Rutten, Joe Lauzon, James Wilks, Ross Pearson, Anthony Johnson, Jake Shields, Jamie Varner, along with many others. Penn drew the biggest crown as he worked two different booths that held lines that stretched across the West Wing of the Convention Center.
Varner, Johnson and Shields also had lots of fans in their lines while fighters like Wilks and Pearson walked around the Center with little to no media or fans interupting them. Joe Lauzon, who was a fighter on one of the earlier sesons of TUF, was also at a booth signing pictures for the fans.
World of MMA was able to get some words in, although no video, with Jake Shields and Josh Barnett. Jake was able to confirm that the rumors about him fighting Mayhem Miller for the Middleweight Strikeforce title are true however it has not been announced nor has it been made official by Strikeforce. Shields said that they still need to sign on the dotted line.
Josh Barnett was in attendance but not at a booth, or signing many autographs like the other fighters, but was on the mat helping a student train for an upcoming match at the US Open. Josh was asked about potentially fighting in Japan and what’s next for the fighter. Barnett replied that he could always fight in Japan and that was never an issue. He did comment about how Affliction folded and said that they didn’t warn the fighters prior to the collapse. He was wearing an Affliction T-shirt while training.
Full Coverage of the Expo can be found here with Videos. Video Interviews include Joe Lauzon, James Wilks, Ross Pearson, Big Boy from Big boy’s Neighborhood along with plenty of pretty booth girls sporting the latest MMA fashion and apparel.
